Anzac Day

Today we woke up at 2:45 in the morning to go to the Australian War Memorial  in Villers-Bretonneux for the Anzac Day dawn service. We had to drive there because it was a long trip. When we were parking the people who car was in front had to help us to get our car in a car spot. Then we had to get out of the car and started to walk to get to the place it was at.

When we were walking in a girl was giving special books to people, it was called the Order of Service.

We found a spot pretty close to the front and tried to dry the seats which were wet with tissues. Then we got asked to move right near the front so we got a really good position. There we some girls and some boys from high schools who were reading out the the names of some of the soldiers who had died in the war. They were wearing their school uniforms.

I was reading the Order of Service and found a page with a letter from a soldier in the war to his daughter Daisy. On the next page there was a letter from Daisy to her Daddy. We found during the service that the Dad had died from a wound on the 4th of September a few days after he wrote the letter. I felt very sad because Daisy never got to see her Daddy again.

Later that day I lit a candle for Daisy in Amiens Cathedral because I was very sad.

At the end of the service there was a line of people who had a relatives in the war. Most of the things that the people gave to their grandpa or dad was poppies and other flowers. Most of the people gave them poppies.

I learnt a lot, got sad a lot, but had a great day. I rate it 10 / 10.

D Day beaches

Today we went to the D Day beaches. The D Day beaches is were the war was on. My dad said if the beach didn't exist I would not of got born. We went to the beach and had a look at the beach and then we went to the top of the hill and went into the fort where the Germans hid. Then we climbed up a little higher and went inside a tunnel and came out up at the top.

Then we went back in the car and drove to the American Cemetery. At the American Cemetery we learnt about the Second World War and the D Day invasion. Then I had a sit down and I watched some film about the War on the TV. I went to an aisle and I read about the poor nurse who died. I saw her bag and the things that were in there. The things that were inside were mostly in boxes.

We went outside and saw a whole bunch of white things. I went closer to them and I worked out that they were crosses. Some of the crosses were stars which means the soldier who is buried there is Jewish. I took lots of photos of them and saw one of them called Walter. I kept walking and I saw a person who died on the 28th of July which is my birthday.

I felt very sad but we are very lucky for the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for our lives. I also felt sad today because my kitty cat called Tigger died today too.

Even though it was sad I learnt a lot today

St Malo & Mont Saint Michel

After our big day at Puy du Fou the next day we had lots of driving to do and Mum and Dad wanted to show us 2 towns.

The first town was called Saint Malo. Saint Malo was made out of stone and there was a wall around it that you could walk on. We tried to find a place to eat and we managed to get some bacon, eggs and chip but they'd run out of bacon and we had to have ham, how annoying. We went to the beach and saw an old looking castle that was on an island. My dad said to me if you stay on the sand for too long the tide comes up and you're trapped.

This is a picture of the fort on the island. If you stay there when the tide comes in you get trapped.

After Saint Malo we went to a very special place called Mont St Michel. Mont St Michel is an island with a very old church and abbey on it. The monks used to live in there. We went into the Abbey and had to walk up lots of steps to get into it. The Abbey was very big with lots of rooms and arches. On the rest of the island the buildings are very old, made of wood and very close together. On the way back I bought a keyring that says Mont Saint Michel.

This is me on the way over to Mont Saint Michel and looking up to my Mum in one of the gardens at the Abbey

I had a good day at Mont Saint Michel I really liked looking at the old church and seeing where the monks lived.

Puy du Fou

We woke up and got dress and went to Puy du Fou which is a historic theme park.

The shows we saw were really good the first one we saw was really cool. There was a princess and she got stolen by the bad people. The man tried to save the girl and then he became the 4 musketeers. The really cool part is that horses came and went over real water.

In the Lance show there was a girl who guarded the castle wearing a yellow dress. When she was guarding it all these horses with people on them did heaps of cool tricks. One of the good people got there magic and made the girl have a pretty dress. I don't know our the good girl on the horse did it. Then people came and attacked the castle and the girl used magic to defend it and we saw lots of fire.

Other shows that I liked were the Romans, Vikings, Secret of the Lance, Falconry, and King Arthur.

The Roman show felt like it was really real because there was people who looked like they were getting hurt in the battles. The really really cool part of it was that they put real lions in the performance. They put the prisoners in 1 carriage with a separate parts so when the lion came in it wouldn't eat them for real.

The Vikings show was freaky cause they set the village on fire and they looked like real Vikings with boats that came up from under the water and down a hill and there were real people who went under the water.

The bird show was fabulous. We saw all different types of birds such as owls, eagles, pelicans, hawks and falcons. They flew around and did really cool tricks. Aunty Mel would have hated it. Down the bottom there is a picture of how close a bird was to us and my Daddy got hit by the hawk's wing.

Puy du Fou was great

Brugge

On Monday we went to Brugge. We got there on train. We had to go to Brussels to get to Brugge . I had to do my diary on the train. When we got there we went to our hotel, which was right in the centre of town, to put our bags down. Then we went and found a cafe that was in a truck and got chips and mayonnaise. It was so good.

Then we went for a walk. Mummy went to a yucky chocolate shop. There were lots of canals.

On Tuesday We went to the Bell Tower. We climb to the top. I heard some bells ring. Then we went back town and went into a room and the bells rang so the bell machine move.then we went to the bottom and went to the Museum with painting. We got tickets and a audio guide. When we went to the room we turned on the audio guide. I didn't know which painting to look at which was a little bit silly.

My favourite part of Brugge was going on a canal boat tour. We went under lots of small bridges, I tried to touch them and I managed to.

Brugge was a very nice and yummy place. The buildings were very old and fairy tale like. My favourite was the bell tower which we climbed up.

I had a good time in Brugge.

Amsterdam & Keukenhof Gardens

When we arrived in Amsterdam the owner of the apartment was late so we went to a bar whilst he came. After we had got rid of the suitcases we went for a walk and saw some inappropriate shops. Mummy and Daddy wouldn't let us go in them and even wouldn't let us walk down some streets but I saw a rude apron in one shop in the window.

We kept on walking and I found a key ring shop and I got a key ring. Amsterdam is a very cool place but there is a lot of bikes in your way on the bridge and on the path. We saw lots of canals.

The next day, we caught a bus and went to the Keukenhof Gardens. There were tulips there but most of them weren't out which was a shame. There was lots of other pretty flowers. I had lots of fun taking photos of the flowers close up. I MET A DONKEY. I've put some of them below for you to look at.

The yellow flower above is Daddy's favourite picture that I took.

The louvre

Friday the 12th. I woke up really early to go to the louvre. When we got in we went straight to the Mona Lisa. I thought it would be massive but it's tiny. Then we went to a lot of other paintings. My favourite painting was of a battle. The person who painted it was Rubens. I liked a lot of them. Here's a picture of the Mona Lisa and me with a very famous sculpture called the Venus de Milo. At the end of our visit I bought a book about Paris for 10 euros.

After we went to a department store called Printemps and went to the top for a great view of Paris. It was awesome!

Paris Roubaix

We hired a car to drive to the Paris Roubaix bike so mummy and daddy could see it. We got a good spot. I liked it because i got to see the bike people come passed very close.

CATACOMBS, NAPOLEONS TOMB AND STINKY SEWERS

On Tuesday we walked to the Catacombs and waited in a ten years queue. It took forever to get in there. When we got in there we kept walking through a pathway to get to the bones. As we got closer and closer me and Zoe heard a noise and jumped in fright. We got to the bones and me and Zoe were scared. As we were walking we saw this scary looking skull. They were scary but interesting.

We went to Napoleon's tomb. We tried to get in without a ticket but they wouldn't let us in. So we had to get a ticket. This time we got in. We went to see Napoleons tomb. It was marble. It was in a very special room with angels surrounding the tomb so they keep napoleon safe. There was an altar it was blue yellow red and green with lots and lots and lots of gold. It was real gold.

The stinky sewers were yucky because I saw poo and wee and me Tristan Zoe and Emma couldn't breathe. It was raining so there was a big river of toilet water and rain and wee and poo. But mummy and daddy thought it was interesting.

Paris with Zoe

We meet Zoe at a place. And went to see the Mona Lisa. We lined up in a long queue and never went in. We did not see it because the staff were on strike. So we got out of the queue then we went to a cafe. Me and Zoe didn't get anything because we wanted a crepe. I found a crepe shop and ordered 2. So did Zoe.

We ate up and walked up the Champs Élysées. It is the most famous shopping street in the world. It was a very busy street and all the cars were crazy. We lined up to get ticket for the Arc de triomphe. We climbed up a lot of steps to get to the top. When we got to the top we went to see the traffic. I took a photo. Me and Zoe went to find the Eiffel Tower and we did. We tried to see it though the telescope but you needed money. We waited for the people to finish and then quickly me and Zoe had a look through because there was still money left. That was lucky.

Then we came home and chilled out and Zoe came over for tea while Susanne and Paul were having dinner out.

More London Baby & Colchester

We have been really busy exploring London. We went very early to the Tower of London. I saw the Crown Jewels, which I wish I had just one of them. It was very scary there because it was where they chopped lots of peoples' heads off. We went on a tour with a beef-eater who told us all about the Tower. He also screamed a lot. You could also see Tower Bridge from the Tower. I also really like a big Dragon that they had made and put jewels in

Since Emma and I love Harry Potter, Mum and Dad took us to the studio to see where it was made. My favourite part of Harry Potter was walking through the big doors into the Great Hall. I liked sitting on the brooms and pretending to play quiddich.

We went on a big walk through the gardens to see Buckingham Palace. On the way through the park we saw some squirrels. I loved them because you could fake feed them and they came up to you. I took the best picture I could. I hope you like it.

To finish my time in London we went to a Premier League game. WEST HAM AND WEST BROM! I really liked when number 8 Andy Carrol with the long hair scored 2 goals. I also like the bubbles. The bubbles on went on at the start and when West Ham scored a goal. The final score was 3-1 and West Ham won.We went for west ham YAY.

Colchester - I had lots of fun at Colchester. I got to meet my second cousins who were all really nice. It was great to have fun with Izzy and muck around. Cathryn was really nice.

Now I am in Paris and will write about my adventures here soon.
