Camargue and the bird park

On 8th and 9th of June my family went to the Camargue area of France which is where the white horses are. The first place we went to was a bird park. We got our tickets and went to see the birds and followed the path around to where the pink flamingos were. They were so cool. They all work together, have tiny legs and they can go forward and backwards while their legs look straight. They all stick together and have a lovely pink colour.

With my Mum and Dad's mini note pad I sketched lots of pictures. We kept on walking and drew some more things but I mostly sketched flamingos. There were too many mossies so we had to put on mosquito repellent but I still loved the Bird Park.

After the bird park it started to rain really hard so we drove to Sainte Marie de la Mer and had a really nice lunch and watched the rain come in across the Mediterranean Sea. We were supposed to ride some horses but the rain was really heavy so we decided to try again tomorrow. Instead we found our hotel which was really old looking but awesome.

Mum and Dad wanted to do some more exploring so we drove down these really little roads with lots of Camargue white horses and bulls in the paddocks next to them. We kept going down the road which all of a sudden disappeared and there was a river there. Dad told me it was called the Petite Rhone and we had to wait 15 minutes for a boat to take us across. Luckily there was a cafe right there in the middle of nowhere so we had an ice-cream while waiting for the little boat to take us across. It was just like going to Raymond Island back home. We had a yummy dinner then went back to our hotel.

The next day the weather was much better so we got to go horse riding. My horse was really nice, his name was "Soliel" which means sun. We rode the horses right next to the Lagoon so we could see lots more flamingos. It was great fun. There was a really nice dog at the horse place too.

After lunch we went to a really special show with Flamenco Dancing by people and horses and people doing tricks and routines on horses. Some of the people in the show were little girls about my age. All the performers wore really colourful clothes and I loved taking photos of what they were doing.

On the way home we went to Arles for a quick look at the Colosseum and Cathedral.

I really enjoyed my weekend in the Camargue and loved the horses and flamingos.

Annecy

Mum and Dad gave us half the day off school and picked us up at lunchtime so we could go to Annecy which was a 4 hour drive over the mountains away.

As we were driving to our hotel we saw Tristan and Zoe's red number plate car and got excited and tried to wave to the but they didn't see us. After checking into our hotel we went to meet Zoe's family for a walk around the old town and have some dinner. We found a very pretty florist with lots of Teddies on the wall. The old town was really good, I liked the buildings, canals and the decorations in the windows.

Annecy is on a big lake called Lake Annecy. The next day we took a boat trip around the lake to see all the villages and a castle that was the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty. There were lots of really nice houses and chateau's. I had fun on the boat but it was a bit cold.

After lunch Zoe left, then we went shopping and I bought a really nice handbag which I'd seen the day before.

On Sunday morning the weather got better so we decided to take a paddleboat out. We could see lots of ducks and a big fountain of water coming out of the lake. I got to pedal and steer the boat but the best thing was taking photos of the ducks.

Before we left to go home we had one last walk around the town. We found a bridge called "Lovers Bridge". Mum and Dad held hands on it but Emma and I pretended to have a fight.

I liked my weekend in Annecy, I rate it 9 out of 10. One point off because it was cold.
