Carcassonne

We walked through Carcassone to go bike riding along the Canal du Midi. On the way we saw the French army, the fire brigade and some police. They were celebrating Bastille Day and were marching back and forth. We took some photos of them and watched for a little while what they all were doing.

After a while we went to the rent a bike place to rent a bike. Zoe went on a tagalong because she is only six. I went on my bike and went around the corner for some quick practice because I have not ridden a bike for a long time. Then we all went on our bikes and started  our trip. We rode along beside the canal under the shade of the nice trees which was good because it was really hot.

After a while we stopped to put sun screen on and eat some baguette. Daddy was on his tour and wasn’t there so I couldn’t hit him in the nuts with my baguette this time.

We rode back to the bike renting place and gave back our bikes. We were lucky because there were lots of people waiting by now.

Then we went to the town to have lunch inside the walled city and had a walk around the walls and it was then time to go back to the hotel to rest for our big night watching the fireworks.

After a sleep we went to find a good spot to watch the fireworks. We had to wait for ages so it was lucky we had brought the Uno cards. While we were waiting I got bird poop on me and then we just talked. Finally the street lights went off and the fireworks began.  BANG BONG BANG BONG went the fireworks. I took lots of photos. They were loud long and awesome, I rate it a 10 out of 10.

Then it was time for a big sleep.

Le Tour de France and Orica GreenEdge surprise.

We were going to the Le Tour de France to watch the stage start from our home town in France, Aix en Provence. There were lots of people everywhere.

We got there in time for the Caravans to come passed and throw out free stuff. Some of the things they give out are Madelines (French cake), hats, chips, lollies, news papers, tops, water and magnets. It was so hot. Luckily we got a spot in the shade.

When the water came they don't chuck the water out like what they do with everything else, they pass it out.

Then we went to see some of the teams buses. The first one we saw was the Orica GreenEdge bus since they had the yellow jersey. We waved our Aussie flag and they asked us if we wanted to be in the music video clip they were filming. Only Aussie were allowed to do it and they only knew that we were Aussies because our flag so they asked some Frenchys to  move out of the way for us. The Orica people handed out blow up guitars which we had to blow up. Then we had to practice our moves for the video clip. Finally Simon Gerrans came out wearing the yellow jersey and they filmed the clip.

Then my mum was interviewed by ABC news. I went next to her and smiled. Then we went to watch the cyclist come past to get to the start, and finally down to the start to see them start. I took a photo of the yellow jersey and green jersey next to each other as they started.

I had a awesome day. I rate it a 10 out of 10.

Red train and white water rafting

In the Pyrenees at the bottom of a big mountain in a village called Axat we went to the gare (train station ) to go on the red train. While the mums and dads were getting the tickets I saw a old train wheel. I had a go and then went to the next seat to draw.

The train left in a couple of hours so we got some lunch and ate it in a park next to the river. Drew (who is Zoe's and Sarita's Dad) started to play pooh sticks. I won three times. Yay.  Then we went back to the train station to go on the red train. We went on the trip to see the mountains. Then the train went CHOU CHOU. When we went under a tunnel and me and Zoe started to scream.  Then after a while we went though another tunnel. We past a mountain and mummy and daddy took some photo's of an old chateau high on a mountain.

Eventually we turned around and went back to the gare and it was time for white water rafting.

I was very excited but a little bit nervous about the white-water rafting. First we had to listen a man that told us what to do. He spoke English which was good. Then we had to get our wetsuits on. I hated putting it on I said I rather be on something that nobody likes.  Then we had to practise out of the water, when we got this right finally we went on the water.

Our guide was called Lionel. He spoke English too. His favourite thing was surprises. We went on a really big rapids.some times we even crashed on purpose a few times. Lionel said said you can jump of a 3 meter cliff. We did it but I didn't jump off the 3 meter one, the one I jumped off was 1.5 metres. I had to swim though a big rapids. It was hard for me because my helmet was covering my eyes.

Then we went back on the raft. Then we played a game where you had to hold on to peoples' lifejacket and walk around the outside of the raft. Sarita fell in. It was so funny. The kids had to get off because it got to hard but the parents got to go on.  Then we went on a bus back to where we were going to meet the parents.

I had the best day ever. I rate it a 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Out of 10.

Marseille

On Sunday the 16/06/2013 it was Father's Day. Daddy wanted to go to Marseille. We had a walk around the town. We had in mind to go on a petite train that went to the abbey Notre Dame. On the train we saw lots of stunning stuff we got there and walk up lots of stairs. I hate walking up stairs. We had walk around and we went in to the church. It was so cool, lots of gold.

Then we went into the crypt and had a look around. Crypts are normally are cold but in that one it was so so hot because of all the candles and people.  We caught the petite train back to the centre of Marseille and had some lunch for Fathers Day.

After lunch we Then we went to the Olympic Marseille shop. In it I got a cap and Emma got a t-shirt. We had an ice-cream and mum took a photo of us looking up to a really big mirror they have above everyone’s head.

Then we went on a boat trip to a place called Chateau d’If. It was a castle that was turned into a prison. We got our tickets and went in to the castle. In a part in the castle it was pitch black so I had a great idea to put the flash on my camera so took a photo. When I looked at the photo it turned out to be a like a secret passage.

In another part of the castle we saw a movie called “The Count of Monte Christo”. Mum told us it was a story about a man who was imprisoned on the island for committing no crime. He was going to marry someone but their cousin wanted to marry her to so the cousin said he was a Napoleonic traitor, so they sent him to jail, but he escaped and sought revenge on them. It is just a story. Then we went back to the boat back to Marseille. Then we went back to Aix en Provence.

It was a great day.
